A Tribute to My Dearest Mother, Mrs. Josephine Oyibolalu Ile (“Nee Osoh”) It is with a heavy heart, yet a deep sense of gratitude to God Almighty, that I pay this tribute to my beloved mother, Mrs. Josephine Oyibolalu Ile—a remarkable woman who, after a long journey filled with grace, resilience, and faith, succumbed to the pressures of old age and health challenges to answer the final call to glory. Nanu, as we all fondly called her, was a woman of extraordinary warmth, compassion, and kindness. Her heart was an endless reservoir of unconditional love. One of her greatest attributes was her grace—the rare capacity to adjust seamlessly to every situation life presented. With an open heart and open arms, she welcomed her siblings and family friends into our home, loving and supporting them without a single string attached. Her generosity was pure, untainted by expectation. Her dedication to duty was simply second to none. Whatever She puts her hands to do, she did with all her heart and strength. We saw this unwavering work ethics in her various business ventures, climaxing in her famous akamu business, which became a testament to her diligence and enterprise. In her quest to provide for her family's needs, she spared no effort—embracing agriculture with untiring grit to ensure the food needs of her household were always met. She taught us the dignity of labor not through words alone, but by example. When the heavy veil of widowhood fell upon her, Nanu stood tall. With God as her pillar, she held the reins of our family and managed our survival, keeping and nurturing her children to remain focused, steadfast, and united for over thirty years after the demise of her Loving Husband in November 1995. In those decades of single-handedly steering our boat, she imparted in us profound life virtues—priceless survival principles that no classroom or formal education could teach. My one and only beloved Nanu was quiet, yet deeply observant and careful in all her ways. She carried herself with high moral integrity, guarding her character fiercely so as never to be counted a bad mother, while remaining uncompromising against wrong behaviors or morals. She upheld these noble standards right up until her final moments. Words truly fail me to describe the unique, selfless, and towering personality that she was. It was this rare character that naturally endeared us, her children, to willingly partner with and support her in her many endeavors and goals. Oyibolalu, your footprints in my life in particular are permanent and indelible. Your passing has left me deeply broken, but I choose to look up, trusting God to put the pieces, comfort my heart, and enable me to meet and surpass every aspiration you held for us according to God’s will. Thank you for everything, Nanu. Thank you for your sacrifices, your discipline, your prayers, and your boundless love. Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord, my dearest Mother, until we meet again on the resurrection morning. Adieu, Nanu. Rest in perfect peace. Amadike Frank Ile Your beloved Son
